BBA’s President Meets European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society
On 1st of February 2019, the President of the Balkan Blocchain Association, Mr. Georgi Matev, met with the European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel. Together with Stefka Doychinova, a member of æternity Blockchain and æternity Ventures, one of the first “unicorns” in Europe in the field of blockchain technology (startups with a capitalization of over 1 billion dollars).
The main topics of discussion were the current state of the Blockchain community in Bulgaria and in the Balkan region, the opportunities for development and more visibility of the local projects and efforts.
Maria Gabriel commented: “It was interesting for me to learn more about blockchain-based initiatives and punder rojects that are currently development in Bulgaria. I congratulate them on the enthusiasm and the efforts to position Bulgaria in the Balkans as a major engine in the field of blockchain and the cooperation at the regional level may bring the entire region to be seen as a Balkan hub for blockchain innovations”.
